The Project:
This strengthening works enabled the repurposing of this portal frame, the rafters required extra capacity to support new internal plant. There are several new elements (cyan), beams bolted below the rafters, cannels bolted to the web’s and new purlin stays at each location. There were large column stays and roof bracings included to lock it all together.
The existing purlin stays (red) were removed to allow the new heavier stays to be introduced.
